*IMPORTANT ALERT* - Graduation Ceremony News

Juniata Valley Graduating Class of 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians:

As the 2019-2020 school year comes to a close, we would like to share with you the plan for graduation of the Juniata Valley Class of 2020. The Graduation Ceremony will be held on Saturday June 6, 2020 at 1:00 PM with a rain date of Sunday June 7, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Juniata Valley Junior Senior High School.  The Graduation Ceremony will be conducted under the current Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines for proper social distancing. The Graduation Ceremony will be held at the rear of the Junior Senior High School Building. Parents and Guardians should enter campus at the middle entrance area between the elementary school and high school and follow the directions of the parking attendants.  Parents and Guardians will be parked in their family vehicle on the football practice field facing the school building. Students will be parked in their vehicles on the driveway above the football practice field creating a drive-in movie setting. Students that do not possess a driver license may have a family member accompany the student in their vehicle.

Families of graduates will be issued two parking tickets. Each ticket covers a car load of family members. A car load will be considered a standard family vehicle of no more than 7 passengers.  Large capacity vans or buses will not be allowed on the practice field. Parent and Guardian arrival time will begin at 12:30 PM with the ceremony beginning at 1:00 PM.  A stage will be used to give excellent visibility from all vehicles parked on the football practice field.  An FM transmitter will be utilized to transmit audio of the graduation ceremony to all Parent and Guardian vehicles equipped with FM radio. Hornet TV will be producing a Live Stream of the ceremony as well.  Students will be called to the stage from their vehicle to receive their diploma and then return to their vehicle. Families are asked to remain in their vehicles at all times. Do not approach the stage area.  A professional photographer will be on stage to capture your special moment with pictures available at no cost to families.  Once all students have received their diploma, Parents and Guardians will exit the practice field and proceed to their closest hometown of Petersburg or Alexandria for a parade of Seniors led by local emergency vehicles. The procession will leave the high school and proceed through Petersburg and then come back past the high school, through Alexandria ending at the ACCO plant thus ending the graduation ceremony.

Once the parade concludes, Parents/Guardians and Graduates may return to the district campus for photographs. Social distancing guidelines should be followed throughout the ceremony and during the photograph time frame.

Thank you,

Mr. Michael Zinobile

Superintendent

Juniata Valley School District
