The JVSD IT department strives to ensure that our environement, computers, classroom instructional tools and infrastructure support the mission of the Juniata Valley School District. We have several exciting changes taking place in the 18-19 school year, that help to support those goals. I am excited to share these updates with you, as I believe the students will greatly benefit from the changes we are making for this upcoming year.

1.) New Business Lab - The business lab in Mrs. Mowrers highschool room will be outfitted with new computers that will support the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. This software will allow students to explore advertising and editing tools such as Photoshop, InDesign, Spark, etc... Students will also have access to Adobe Acrobat, the industry standard for PDF editing and creation.

2.) District 1:1 program - JVSD's 1:1 program will be expanded to encompass grades 5-12 this year, with students in grades 7-12 having the capabiility of taking the devices home with them.

3.) Broadband increase - The school district will be increasing its broadband capability from 100Mbs to 1,000Mbs. This ten-fold increase will facilitate the increases in network traffic taking place due to additional student devices via the 1:1 program.

4.) Mobile App - The JVSD mobile app will be available for IOS and Android devices. District news and alerts are just a touch away through our partners at SchoolPointe.

There are many other projects and implementations taking place outside of the "big three" that will also support our goal of a technology rich district. The IT department continues to expand Hornet-TV, our student led broadcasting channel. The district learning management system, Canvas, will now support direct grade passback to Skyward. Our content filter is being updated to ensure a safe and consistent browsing experience for our students. Finally, all district UPS systems have been refreshed and our new district site is live!
